broken by crown within a dot circle along periphery with raised rim.
Reverse : Crown on top dividing the numerals of year 19 43.
Large numeral 50 below which CENTS;
ශත පණහ in Sinhala and
௫0 சதம் in Thamil
on consecutive lines with A palm frond on ether side
and at bottom CEYLON in upward arc.
All within dot circle along periphery with raised rim.

This coin with frozen year 1943 was restruck in 1951, few years after Ceylon independence in 1948. The Mint figures above from Royal Mint Report. The 4.0M mint number in 1951 is from Sallay's unpublished records from the Board meeting minutes of the Central Bank of Ceylon. It is not included in the total of year 1943 of 8,600,004 given by Pridmore(1961), Remick(1968) and Robert Harris(1970).
