OBRW #H82 |
Seven Lakshmi and svastika cut lead coins (H.77
to H.83) with sizes 10 to 16 mm and weights from
0.8 to 7 grams that were found in Akurugoda are cataloged under
Local Coins in 1999 by Osmund Bopearachchi and Rajah Wickramasinhe
in the book Ruhuna. An Ancient Civilization Re-visited .
This coin is Plate Specimen H.82.
The lower half of design has been cut-off flan maybe for an fractional piece. OBRW has listed these cut coins as Series 3, but does not seem logical to me.
This is one variety of many coins of this type.
The coin was scanned at 600 dpi and displayed at 600 dpi. ex: Raja Wickramasinghe, it is from part of Lalith Raddella's collection I purchased in 2016 December.
