A commemorative five rupee cupro-nickel coin was issued by Central Bank of Ceylon on 1981 July 7th to mark fifty years of Universal Adult Franchise (1931-1981).

Obverse : A image of the original Parliament building in the centre, with the words වැඩිහිටි සර්වජන ඡන්ද බලය in Sinhala on left, and அனைத்து வயது வந்தோர் வாக்குரிமை in Thamil on left and, UNIVERSAL ADULT FRANCHISE on right along periphery within a raised rim. Reverse : The large numeral denomination 5 with big රුපියල් පහයි in Sinhala, and smaller ஐந்து ரூபாய் in Thamil, and FIVE RUPEES superimposed. The year 1981 of issue at the bottom. The country name ශ්‍රී ලංකා in Sinhala, centered on top, இலங்கை in Thamil on left and SRI LANKA on Right, along periphery within a raised rim.

The coin was scaned at 300 dpi and the images are displayed at 254 dpi. The uncirculated commemorative coin was obtained from the Central Bank of Ceylon.
