The Commemorative card issued has line drawing and a brief description including economic activities in district.
The design probably started as the Colombo Fort Skyline, as seen from Galle Face Green looking North as shown in photograph above. Although being used to reflect the changing skyline of Colonbo, the skyline view on this photograph has not changed since the WTC opened in 1996.
In the drawing on the coin, the Chaitya has replaced the Intercontinental (now Kingsbury) Hotel, and Nelum Pokuna has replaced Hilton Hotel. Therefore it is clearly NOT a real skyline looking North as seen from Galle Face Green.
A more realistic view in the skyline looking South-East from the Colombo Port is shown in the Rs 500 currency note.
The Coin obtained from CBSL was scanned at 600 dpi is displayed at 300 dpi.
