A definitive decimal currency One Rupee brass plated Steel coin with a
alternat milled + plain edge, first issued 2005 December 14th.
It was to circulate along side the older
coin which remained legal tender.

Obverse : The Armorial Ensign of Sri Lanka within circle of dashes along periphery with raised rim.
Reverse : A traditional Sinhala design using the Pineapple motif. Value in big
රුපියලයි in Sinhala,
and smaller
ஒரு ரூபாய் in Thamil,
and ONE RUPEE
below and year of issue at the bottom,
with traditional Sinhala Liyavela art on either side, and country name
ශ්රී ලංකා (Sri Lanka) in Sinhala, centered on top. All within circle of dashes along periphery with raised rim.

In 2005, Rs1000/- worth was packed in large polythene bags with a
Light Yellow paper label encased on top with SRI LANKA - 1 RUPEE - 1000
Pieces - ### in 4 lines.
A small white paper sticker gave total weight, Date and time of production
with operator and consec number ###.
In 2009 Printed in Black on the polythene pack was
SRI LANKA - 1 RUPEE - 1000 Pieces in 3 lines.
In 2016 the 2013 dated coins were put in smaller packs of 100 coins
each and 10 were included in the larger pack for simpler distribution.
Printed in Black on the small polythene pack was
SRI LANKA - 1 RUPEE - 100 PIECES in 3 lines.
It is smaller in both size and weight than both the older 1 rupee coin
at 25.4 mm and 7.13 grams and current 50 cent coins at 21.5 mm and
5.51 grams.

The 2013 Mintage of 146.4 Million excludes the 3.6 Million
coins with same year minted
previously in Finland.
The coin was scaned at 600 dpi and the images are displayed at
300 dpi.
